Ending the Lesson
A. Finishing Clearly
Teacher and students alike find it unsatisfactory to stop in the middle of something. If you see that time is running out and that you are not going to get through everything you plan to do, stop at the cleanest break-in material. To fill that time you should have a number of enjoyable activities.
B. Observing the Bell
Do not go on with the lesson after the bell has gone. It is better to be ready a minute than to arouse resentment in the class. Learning is just as tiring as teaching and students need their break.
C. Cleaning the Blackboard
This is quite important for the new teacher. It is not just that it is courteous to ensure that nobody else is forced to clean up your mess. It is also a way of ensuring that no other member of staff sees any mistakes you may have made.
D. Replacing the Furniture
You may have been working in a room that belongs someone else or perhaps all the schools in the school are arranged in a traditional way. If you arranged then at the begining of your lesson get students to bring them back where they were.
E. Leaving the Classroom
If your students are immediately going to another lesson in the same room, simply make sure they are sitting quitely before you leave. If they are going to leave the room, you should ensure that they do it in an orderly way.
